  The Diver is the smallest instrument in the world for automatic measurement and recording of groundwater levels and groundwater temperatures. The CTD-Diver also measures conductivity. The Diver fits in the palm of your hand and is remarkably light. With its length of only 90 mm (183 mm for the CTD-Diver) and a diameter of 22 mm (18 mm for the Micro-Diver), the Diver can be used in virtually any monitoring well.The pressure sensor, temperature sensor, the conductivity sensor, as well as the data logger and battery are contained within a hermetically sealed stainless steel or ceramic housing. This ensures that the Diver is less sensitive to moisture or external electrical fields (Faraday cage). Moreover this enables it to also be used in highly corrosive waters. The Diver can be suspended in a monitoring well on a steel wire or vectran rope.Once installed, no part of the monitoring system is left protruding above ground level, greatly reducing the risk of vandalism. The Diver can now automatically measure the groundwater level and temperature and record these data in its internal memory. The built-in battery has a life of approximately 10 years. The Pocket PC software is designed to reduce field time, and has been specially developed for use on a pocket PC. It can be used to download or display recorded data from any Diver model and transfer these to the desktop computer.

  This small portable device makes data logging easier than ever before and avoids the need to take an expensive computer, hand-held PC or laptop into the field, although it is still possible to use these. The system can be used for Divers installed with a data cable and for Divers suspended by a stainless steel cable. In the latter case the Diver must be removed from the well and inserted in the reader unit. It takes just a few minutes to program the Diver either in the field or in the office. Simply enter the location, the (future) starting time and the sample rate and select between a fixed measurement frequency, a preset frequency or an event-related frequency. The Diver is available in a number of designs:

  • The MicroDiver®: stainless steel housing and ceramic pressure sensor, diameter  18  mm,  length  90  mm,  available  for  various  measurement ranges, memory capacity 48000 measurements.
  • The CeraDiver®: ceramic housing and ceramic pressure sensor, diam-eter 22 mm, length 90 mm, available for various measurement ranges, memory capacity 48000 measurements.
  • The  CTD-Diver:  ceramic  housing  and ceramic pressure sensor and platinum/ceramic conductivity sensor (measurement range 0–80 mS/cm), diameter 22 mm, length 183 mm, available for various measure-ment ranges, memory capacity 16000 measurements. The CTD-Diver is a compact instrument that allows you to measure the groundwater level, groundwater temperature and conductivity of the groundwater at the same time. Whereas groundwater monitoring used to be a la-bour-intensive and difficult exercise, particularly in the case of the de -contamination of polluted soil, the supervision of rubbish dumps and recording of soil and water salination, this has all changed with  the arrival of the CTD-Diver.
