UGT Ltd was born on the 1st of July 1992, outsourcing from the steeped-in-tradition Müncheberger Soil Research Institute, the today’s non-profit organization Leibnitz Center for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF).

Since then, a competitive interdisciplinary working team of nature scientists, engineers and technicians has been available for the development and production of new measuring techniques.

Our coworkers have worked for many years in the field of soil hydrology, geology and biology as well as scientific tool-building. Solid specialized knowledge, paired with extensive experimental experience under both laboratory and field conditions, form the basis to develop and manufacture environmental measurement techniques with high-innovation capacity, quality and practical sense regarding their use.

With the establishment of its own business premises in 1999, UGT Ltd became one of the main ultramodern development places for applied microelectronics and precision mechanics as well as a fully equipped manufacturing plant with modern machinery and production technologies, able to provide both a rational quantity production and a customized tool-building.

The new extension hall construction in 2001 offered an additional manufacturing area for the production and assembly of large volume lysimeter container stations as well as for the building of devices, in order to be able to meet the fast growing need for these test setups.

Business premises was supplemented in the year 2003 by an outdoor exposure test field with integrated lysimeter station, a weather station as well as a soil-hydrologic measuring plot.

One year later, a well-equipped soil-physical laboratory was born.

These elements enable to ensure the proper execution of work on the projects and the validation of the measuring procedures and environmental measuring positions.

To meet the requirements of a growing national and international market, UGT Ltd has established a Branch South in Munich´s region, close to important scientific centers, by creating in September 2008 its Innovation and Startup Centers Freising-Weihenstephan. Besides the office rooms, an exhibition room and a conference area enable to fully represent the activities of UGT.
