Principle:

The function principle is described in article number 189040. 

The mass of the monolith is increased up to 12 t, the diameter is 1600 mm and the length 2,0-2,5 m. For this dimension new equipment is necessary and shown in figure 1 – 3.

Principle purposes: 

• The newly developed rotary cutting tool makes it possible to carve out large soil monoliths with high precision and without pounding action
• The logistical efforts for preparing the extraction site and transporting the tools are less. As a result, it is cheaper. 
• It has been used successfully for different soil types (from gravel to clay and also for contaminated soils) and for different lysimeter sizes (depths of 1.0 - 2.5 m).
• The time required to collect a soil monolith depends on soil and site conditions. Typically it takes one or two days to obtain a large undisturbed monolith.
