UGT Tension chamber
UGT Tension chamber
Application
Our hood infiltrometer can be converted with the tension chamber into a common tension infiltrometer with Mariotte` s water feed. The Tension Infiltrometer allows infiltration tests independent of the air penetration point of the soil. It is designed to measure hydraulic conductivity in unsaturated soils. For this purpose, a slight negative pressure is applied up to a water tension of about 60 hPa.
Structure
The tension chamber consists of a transparent base body into which the water for the infiltration test is filled. On the top of the basic body there is a connection for the infiltration vessel of the infiltrometer and a riser tube connected to the U-tube manometer. On the bottom of the base body there are bottom holes. A nylon foil with 15 µm (standard) is stretched under the base body.
