News: EU Soil Monitoring Law
With our instruments, you can cover the full range of soil health monitoring needs.
The European Union has set an ambitious goal: By 2050, all soils in the EU should be in a healthy condition – and remain that way. The new Directive on Soil Monitoring and Resilience aims to make this vision reality through:
-
systematic monitoring of soil health across all EU Member States,
-
regular assessment of key indicators such as organic carbon content, water retention capacity, soil biodiversity, and contaminant loads,
-
inclusion of PFAS and pesticide residues in monitoring programs,
-
and clear strategies for remediation of potentially contaminated and legacy sites.
To achieve these goals, reliable and precise measurement technologies are essential – and that’s where we can contribute. With our instruments, you can cover the full range of soil health monitoring needs:
-
Suction probes – sampling pore and percolation water for contaminants
-
Lysimeters – assess water retention, carbon balance, and management impacts
-
TerraElute – column elution for assessing soil and excavation material from contaminated sites; ideal for automated high-throughput testing
-
Perkolator 32 – determine cation exchange capacity (CEC), a key soil health indicator
-
Ku-pF MP10 – automated determination of water retention curves for up to 10 samples simultaneously
-
PL-300 – field device for measuring pneumatic conductivity, reflecting the soil’s air-filled pore space
-
Hood infiltrometer – reproduces natural infiltration conditions on-site
-
Sedimat – automated particle size analysis in mineral soils according to DIN ISO 11277 (Köhn analysis)
Healthy soils are the foundation of sustainable ecosystems, agriculture, and climate resilience. Let’s monitor, understand, and protect them – together.
