UGT Tensio 120 Septum Tensiometer
UGT Tensio 120 Septum Tensiometer
With the rugged Tensio 120 and a mobile measurement tool with septum insertion needle (optionally available from us), you can equip a large measuring field or a landscape. Another application example is to measure ground accessibility on construction sites on a daily basis. You can read out the data quickly and easily via Bluetooth using a smartphone. The separation of pressure sensor and tensiometer makes this tensiometer a cost-effective solution. The Tensio 120 septum tensiometer is available in four lengths.
How does the Tensio 120 work?
The Tensio 120 septum tensiometer works on the same principle as conventional, water-filled tensiometers. The only difference is that the pressure sensor is not permanently integrated in the tensiometer. To measure the soil water tension, a puncture measuring device is used, which consists of an acrylic glass bell with a cannula and a pressure sensor with Bluetooth data transmission. This setup makes the Tensio 120 ideal for temporary measurements with on-site readings.
The measured pressure is read out via an app using a Bluetooth connection. This value contains both the soil water tension and the hydrostatic pressure of the water column in the tensiometer. To determine the actual soil water tension at the measuring depth, the measured pressure must be corrected by the hydrostatic pressure of the water column. The soil water tension is calculated on the basis of the measured pressure, the measuring depth and the water column, which is read off the scale of the tensiometer.
