Vertical dendrometer DV
Vertical dendrometer DV
The vertical dendrometer was developed to continuously determine the vertical changes (not growth) of trees. As the stem length varies depending on water status, wind conditions and curvature, the vertical change is a useful parameter to assess water status, mechanical stress/stability and growth direction. As a rule, a parallel measurement of 3 sides with 3 vertical dendrometers is necessary in order to be able to record the different causes separately.
The DV is supplied with 2 metres of cable and 1 metre of special cable for measuring 1 metre of trunk section. Customised cable and rope lengths can also be manufactured on request. An external data logger is required for data recording. The DV can also be connected to existing loggers at existing measuring stations.
