The LWF precipitation / deposition collector was developed as a standard collector by the Bavarian State Institute for Forests and Forestry. It is recommended for the collection of atmospheric depositions by the Länderarbeitsgemeinschaft LAWA in the guideline "Atmospheric depositions - guideline for observation and evaluation of precipitation characteristics" of 1998. It is suitable for collecting precipitation, especially for the analysis of precipitation quantity and quality in the laboratory. The LWF precipitation / deposition collector is made of polyethylene. The collecting area is 314 cm2. The collector is suspended at a height of 1 m in an installation pipe. A protective filter prevents the entry of coarse contaminants and at the same time prevents evaporation from the collection volume, so that the concentration of substances dissolved in the water is maintained.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) recommends that precipitation measurements with tipping meters be supplemented by collectors such as the LWF Precipitation / Deposition Collector to compensate for errors due to the principle. Since precipitation varies greatly, it is recommended to place four LWF precipitation / deposition collectors around each tipping counter.

We offer two types:

•     "Agricultural" type: collection funnel and collection bottle are connected via a PE connection lid with hose fitting and hose. Suitable for exposed installation site, e.g. outdoor measuring point.
•     Type "Forest": with welded screw connection for the collecting bottle. Suitable for installation site protected from the sun, e.g. in a forest stand.
